ENCATC Academy

22-25 April 2024, Lille, France

The 2024 ENCATC Academy on Sustainable Cultural Management and Policy will take place from 22 to 25 April 2024 in Lille, France, at the iconic Palais des Beaux Arts de Lille

The city of Lille is at the forefront of sustainability, with a commitment dating back to its first Agenda 21 in 2001, reaffirmed in 2010. The city aims to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030, striving for carbon neutrality before 2050. Leveraging the cultural momentum from being the European Capital of Culture in 2004, Lille transformed derelict sites into community spaces and championed arts education.

Recognising culture as a key pillar of sustainability since 2005, Lille promotes a vibrant artistic sector and cultural diversity for societal impact. The city's current mandate focuses on a systemic approach to ecological transition and inclusive cultural initiatives until 2026. In 2021, a dedicated cross-departmental team was established to drive the "Sustainable Culture" policy, fostering collaboration among cultural services to create a transformative 2024-2026 strategy.

ENCATC is proud to team up with the City of Lille and our partners Eurocities, Future for Religious Heritage, Goldsmiths - University of London, Julie's Bicycle, and NEMO, to offer to the cultural management and policy community a new exciting edition of the ENCATC Academy.
