Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski
Dr. Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski was the winner of the 2019 ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management for her doctoral thesis, “Theory of institutions and cultural policies for contemporary performative practices” obtained from the University of Arts in Belgrade, Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Serbia.
Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski is a cultural manager, curator and researcher whose professional work is closely connected to the independent art and cultural scene in North Macedonia. She is a co-founder and executive director of Lokomotiva – Centre for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture, as well as a co-founder of Nomad Dance Academy and Kino Kultura, a project space for contemporary performing arts and culture. She also contributed to the creation of Jadro – Association of the Independent Cultural Scene.
She has worked as a consultant for the European Cultural Foundation and the European Commission. Tanurovska Kjulavkovski is the author of various texts, (co)editor of numerous publications, journals and books. She has been a guest lecturer at different programs, as well as universities. Since 2011, she has been working as an independent lecturer at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje. She is a graduate in art history and archaeology and holds an MSc in Interculturalism, Cultural Management and Cultural Policy at the University of Arts in Belgrade.
