2019 ENCATC Research Award Ceremony
Dijon, FranceWho will be the 2019 winner of the ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Management?
The 6th ENCATC Research Award Ceremony took place in Dijon during the 27th ENCATC Congress, bringing together an international community of researchers, academics, policymakers and cultural professionals, as well as representatives of UNESCO and the French Ministry of Culture to celebrate research excellence.
Four finalists presented their doctoral research: Annatina Aerne (Switzerland), Karla Nunes Penna (Australia/Brazil), Minna Ruusuvirta (Finland) and Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski (North Macedonia). Their research addressed cultural publics, heritage preservation, festival organisations, and cultural institutions and policies.
The 2019 Award was won by Dr Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski from North Macedonia for her PhD, Theory of institutions and cultural policies for contemporary performative practices, obtained from the University of Arts in Belgrade, Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Serbia.
Following opening remarks by Francesca Imperiale, ENCATC President and Research Award Jury President, and Jaime Ruiz-Gutierrez, Jury Member and Associate Professor at Universidad de Los Andes, the Award was presented by Louise Haxthausen, Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in Brussels and UNESCO Representative to the European Union.
The ceremony strengthened the Award’s role in giving emerging researchers international visibility and supporting career development, while connecting research with policy and practice and fostering international knowledge exchange for cultural management and cultural policy in Europe and beyond.
