ECHOES - European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science
ECHOES aims to establish the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), providing a shared platform for heritage professionals and researchers. This platform will offer access to data, cutting-edge scientific and training resources, and advanced digital tools, all co-developed by the heritage community to meet their specific needs.
The project will unite the fragmented communities within the Cultural Heritage (CH) sector, bringing together various actors from different sectors and disciplines into a cohesive new community centered around the Digital Commons. Moving beyond a narrow focus on heritage assets and simple digitization, ECHOES seeks to create a visionary paradigm shift in the CH field.
ECHOES is funded by the Horizon Europe Programme of the EU, with a €25 million budget to work from 2024-2029. The project is led by the CNRS under the scientific coordination of Xavier Rodier, director of the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Val de Loire. The CNRS, in collaboration with the Foundation for Heritage Sciences and the CNR (Italy), has formed a consortium of 51 European partners to carry out the ECHOES project.
