Elodie Bordat-Chauvin was selected as the 2014 ENCATC Research Award Winner for her PhD thesis “The Dynamics of Changes in Public Policy. A Comparative Historical Analysis of Mexican and Argentine Cultural Policies.” defended at Sciences Po Aix (Institut d’Études Politiques d’Aix-en-Provence), France.

Élodie Bordat-Chauvin is a French sociologist and political scientist specialising in public cultural policy and its relationship with political and social change. She is a maîtresse de conférences in the sociology of public cultural action at Université Paris 8 Vincennes–Saint-Denis, where she teaches in the European Cultural Policy and Management programme, and is a researcher at CRESPPA-LabToP (CNRS/Paris 8).

Her academic trajectory began with ethnology studies in Mexico City at the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, before she pursued comparative political science at Sciences Po Aix. She completed a PhD in political science in 2014, examining the development of cultural policies in Mexico and Argentina; the thesis received the 2014 ENCATC Cultural Policy Research Award.

In 2014, she published an article in the French journal Pôle Sud about how intellectuals’ mobilisations have contributed to the institutionalisation of cultural policies in Mexico and Argentina, in a special issue in which she is editor. She has presented her work at several international conferences in America and Europe.

Her research now spans cultural participation, cultural appropriation, feminist mobilisations, and the transnational circulation of cultural policies and artistic forms between Latin America and Europe, with particular work on Argentina, Mexico, Poland and Spain.
