Marta Gertrudes and Paula Ochôa from the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal, were chosen as the Best Research Paper of the 2025 ENCATC Congress with the paper “Museums in Transformation: Analyzing the Contributions of Curatorship and Digital Humanities in Impact Assessment Models.”
Marta Marques Gertrudes is a Portuguese cultural heritage and museum professional whose work sits at the intersection of curatorship, digital humanities and museum education. She holds a Master’s degree in Curatorship and Digital Humanities from NOVA University Lisbon, where her research examined how museums can assess and communicate their social, cultural, economic and environmental impact in the context of digital transformation. Her professional experience includes educational and curatorial activities at the Centro de Interpretação do Abrigo do Lagar Velho (CIALV), in Leiria. Her current interests include digital museums, audience engagement, cultural heritage and developing new approaches to understanding and measuring museum impact.
Paula Ochôa coordinates the master's degree in Heritage and co-coordinates the master's degree in Information Management and Curation. She was a librarian for more than 30 years, specialising in the area of information management. She spent most of her career at the National Library of Portugal and at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Education, where she was Director of Information and Documentation Services. Guest lecturer in University Higher Education between 1991 and 2017.
