Palace of the Nation (Belgian Senate)

Located in the heart of Brussels, the Belgian Senate offers a unique setting where art, heritage and democratic life meet. This ENCATC Cultural Happy Hour invites participants to discover the Senate’s art collection and explore how artworks contribute to the cultural identity and heritage of a public institution. 

Built up over more than 180 years, the Senate’s art collection brings together a diverse range of works reflecting different artistic movements and periods. From sculptures and paintings depicting Belgium’s national history to portraits, busts and works displayed throughout the Palace of the Nation, the collection offers insights into the country’s artistic heritage and the evolving relationship between art and public institutions.

The visit will provide participants with an opportunity to discover this lesser-known cultural heritage and reflect on the role of art in institutional spaces.
