2026 ENCATC Policy Debate

Brussels

How can Europe turn political commitments into concrete improvements for artists and cultural professionals?

On 13 November 2026, ENCATC, in partnership with the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU, will organise a high-level policy debate entitled “From Political Commitment to Lasting Change: Advancing the Status of Artists and Working Conditions in Europe's Cultural and Creative Sectors.”

Building on the Joint Declaration for the Future of Europe and Culture and ENCATC's research-based policy recommendations developed following its Congress in Nice, discussions will address key challenges facing cultural professionals, including fair remuneration, social protection, professional recognition and sustainable working conditions.

A central panel discussion, “Turning Evidence into Action,” will examine how research, policymaking and cultural practice can jointly drive positive change. An interactive policy dialogue will invite participants to identify priorities and propose concrete solutions.

This event offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen cross-sector collaboration, amplify the voices of cultural professionals and contribute to a fairer, more resilient European cultural ecosystem.

Following the debate, participants are invited to join an ENCATC Cultural Happy Hour: exploring the Art Collection of the Belgian Senate. This exclusive guided visit offers a unique opportunity to discover the Senate’s prestigious art collection and connect with fellow participants in a cultural setting.
