In response to the
European Commission’s strategic initiative, the Culture Compass for
Europe, ENCATC opened a space for dialogue and reflection among its members.
The Culture Compass is a new policy tool under development by the EU, designed
to bring greater coherence, impact, and long-term vision to Europe’s cultural
policies. It aims to guide the EU’s actions in the cultural field across policy
areas, foster stronger cross-sectoral coordination, and support Member States
in designing more aligned cultural strategies.
During this
session, Experts from the European Commission went more deeply into
details, structure, and strategic objectives of the Culture Compass. ENCATC
presented the draft of its Position Paper on the Culture Compass—a
document articulating the network’s vision, concerns, and recommendations based
on more than three decades of expertise, advocacy, and academic engagement in
the cultural sector.
