Teaching Across Cultures: Challenges and Opportunities in Arts and Cultural Management Education

14h00-15h30

Gerald Lidstone, ENCATC President

The first online event of the Working Group on Culture and Education explored the broad and complex landscape of cultural education, touching on topics ranging from cultural policy and school curricula to initiatives led by artists, arts organisations, and community groups. While acknowledging this wide scope, participants focused on the core concern of most ENCATC members: designing effective undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in arts and cultural management and policy.
A central challenge discussed was how to equip students with both foundational knowledge and adaptable skills—especially critical thinking and problem-solving—given that many future job roles do not yet exist.
