Alessandro Butticé is a free-lance journalist, retired Brigadier General in the Italian Guardia di Finanza and former Head of Units at the European Commission. President 2021/2022 Rotary Club Bruxelles West, he was the co-founder and VP for Europe of the Pubblicisti Italiani Uniti per l’Europa Association, co-founder and VP of the European Association of the Press Office and Institutional Communication (EAPO&IC), and co-director of “Più Europei” magazine. Prior to this, Alessandro was the Head of the Business Continuity, Security and Administrative Coordination (17/18), and of the HR (15/17) and Comm. (13/15) Units, and the Anti-Fraud and Security adviser (12/13) in DG Internal Market, Industry, Entreprise ans SMEs of the European Commission; Policy Adviser (12), Head of the 'Direct Expenditure and External Aid' (09-12), and of the ‘Spokesman, Communication & Public Relations’ Units and Spokesman (99-09) of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). As Brigadier General (Retired) in the Italian Guardia di Finanza, where he started my career in 1979, he led investigative units concerned with organised crime, financial, economic and drug-related cases. He also covered the roles of Deputy Head of the Press Office and Spokesperson at the Guardia di Finanza National Headquarters.
