Research Award Ceremony 2017

The 4th ENCATC Research Award Ceremony took place in Brussels during the 25th ENCATC Congress. Held under the patronage of the Flemish Commission of UNESCO, the ceremony brought together an international community of researchers, policymakers, cultural practitioners and artists.

The 2017 Award was won by Dr Rebecca Amsellem (France) for her PhD thesis, The international strategies of museums and their new business models, defended at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Alongside the winner, there were two finalists: Dr Steven Hadley (United Kingdom), for Clothed in an inclusive ethic: Discourses of Democracy and the Role of Audience Development in English Cultural Policy, and Dr Sofie Jacobs (Belgium), for A configurational perspective on success in small-sized creative organisations.

The Award was presented by Catherine Magnant, Advisor and Head of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage task force at the European Commission. The ceremony also featured presentations by previous Award winners Dr Annika Hampel and Dr Elena Borin of their newly published works in the ENCATC Book Series.

The ceremony highlighted the Award’s contribution to international visibility and career development for emerging researchers, while strengthening connections between research, policy and practice.
