Miikka Pyykkönen

Professor of cultural policy at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland

Miikka Pyykkönen is a professor of cultural policy at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Pyykkönen has also a docentship in sociology at the University of Helsinki. Pyykkönen currently leads the degree program Cultures, Communities and Change at the University of Jyväskylä. His main research interests are cultural policy, cultural labor and economy, ecological sustainability and culture, and the history of ethnopolitics. Pyykkönen’s over 100 academic publications include co-editing of Globalization, Culture and Development (2015, Palgrave Macmillan) with Christiaan De Beukelaer and JP Singh, and Creative and Cultural Work in Europe (2026, Routledge) with David Wright, Bård Kleppe and Jaka Primorac. The next co-edited book Nordic Cultural Policy Reframed (with Louise Egged Hansen, Tobias Harding, Ole Marius Hylland and Njörður Sigurjónsson) will be out in August from Springer.
