Jaka Primorac

Jaka Primorac works as a Scientific Advisor at the Department for Culture and Communication at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2010, she received PhD in sociology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Her research interests intersect the fields of the sociology of culture and media and the sociology of work, with a strong focus on qualitative methods. Dr Primorac worked on a number of international and domestic projects funded by the European Commission Horizon Programme, COST, Croatian Science Foundation etc. Recently, she co-edited 'Creative and Cultural Work in Europe' (with Bård Kleppe, Miikka Pyykkönen and David Wright, Routledge, 2026), and ‘Digital Transformation and Cultural Policies in Europe’ (with Ole Marius Hylland, Routledge, 2024). Her last authored book examines the project-type nature of cultural work in Croatia, ‘From Project to Project: Work and Employment in the Cultural Sector’ (BLOK, 2021) (in Croatian).
