Nele Verhaeren (1977°, Mortsel), based in Brussels plays a strategic role within the organisation of the contemporary art fair Art Brussels since 2006. Currently in her role as Co-Director of Art Brussels, and formerly as Head of Gallery Relations, she is the contact person for gallerists, committee members and is responsible for the lay-out of the floor plan of the fair. In her role as Co-Director, she works in close collaboration with Anne Vierstraete, Managing Director. In the context of Art Brussels, Nele Verhaeren coordinated numerous exhibition projects taking place on the fair ground. Before her involvement at the fair, Nele Verhaeren used to work as Exhibition Coordinator for the triennial of Beaufort2006, curated by Willy Van den Bussche, former Museum Director of MUZEE in Ostend. In 2004, she was appointed to set up the inventory of the contemporary art collection of the National Bank of Belgium, under the direction of Yves Randaxhe. Nele Verhaeren has a Master degree on Art History (KU Leuven) and has a teaching degree in the field of Plastic Arts (Namur and Leuven).
