Art and antiques dealing as a profession: contemporary challenges

Virginie Devillez is a Brussels-based fine Art Expert and Advisor in Belgian and international art with over 25 years of experience in expertise, and art transactions. She holds a PhD from the Université libre de Bruxelles and has facilitated major museum acquisitions including works by Anna Boch to the Musée d’Orsay and Mu.ZEE, Marthe Donas to Centre Pompidou, and Evelyne Axell to the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Formerly curator at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and lead project manager of the Magritte Museum, she also directed renowned contemporary galleries and served as expert in Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s (2016–2023).
