2025 Research Award Ceremony
Barcelona, SpainThe 12th ENCATC Research Award Ceremony took place in Barcelona during the 33rd ENCATC Congress, bringing together an international community of academics, researchers, cultural professionals and policymakers.
The finalists were Giada Calvano (Italy/Spain), from the University of Barcelona, for Greening European Music Festivals: Environmental Sustainability Strategies, Practices, and Certification from an Organisational Perspective, and Lucrezia Gigante (Italy/United Kingdom), from the University of Leicester, for The Spatial Politics of Art Organisations: Public Programmes as Sites of Cultural Citizenship.
The 2025 Award was won by Giada Calvano of the University of Barcelona, Spain, for her PhD thesis Greening European Music Festivals: Environmental Sustainability Strategies, Practices, and Certification from an Organisational Perspective.
The ceremony opened with Gerald Lidstone, ENCATC President, and Joan Guàrdia Olmos, Rector of the University of Barcelona. Annick Schramme, member of the Research Award Jury, introduced the Research Award before the laureates were announced.
The ceremony reinforced the Award’s role in raising international visibility and supporting career development for emerging researchers, while connecting research with policy and practice and fostering international knowledge exchange in cultural management and cultural policy in Europe and beyond.
